On March 29, 2005, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) where State and County representatives met to discuss how to better serve Regional Center clients.  As a result, an Agreement was developed to define and confirm the roles and responsibilities of the seven (7) Regional Centers (RC) and County departments for working together to provide coordinated services that help improve the lives of residents in the County of Los Angeles with developmental disabilities.  County departments and Regional Centers are committing to work collaboratively to enhance communication and effectiveness for a responsible, appropriate, and high quality service.  In order to better provide services to the children we serve the Office of the Medical Director is requesting that staff, if not already doing so, begin documenting on CWS/CMS when a child is currently receiving Regional Center Services or has previously received Regional Center Services

The Department of Children and Family Services, Office of the Medical Director (OMD), has also developed Regional Center Teams to assist DCFS Regional staff with Regional Center issues

CAPTA (Child Abuse Prevention Treatment Act): Under this federal initiative, all infants from birth to 36 months, in situations where there is substantiated allegations of child abuse or neglect, must be referred for developmental screening to Regional Center, if the infants have a developmental delay or disability or are at risk for a developmental disability
