Research Requests

SIR Section reviews requests from external organizations, such as universities and non-governmental organizations. All research requests must be related to the DCFS Mission Statement:

DCFS practices a uniform service delivery model that measurably improves child safety, permanency and access to effective and caring services

All external research requests must meet the minimum criteria specified within the DCFS External Research Proposal Grading Rubric.

The process for initiating an external research request is described in the External Research Request Process: A Guide for Researchers. The external research requests are typically reviewed every Tuesday. Please allow at least one week for a response.
