Ms. Yokoyama started as a Child Protective Services Worker with the Department in 1984, and shortly thereafter, she transferred to the Adoptions Division where she held the position of Child Welfare Worker, Supervising Child Welfare Worker and Assistant Regional Administrator. In 1998, she was selected as the Regional Administrator (RA) for the North Hollywood office.
During her assignment as an RA, Ms. Yokoyama was the Lead Program and Pilot Office for the Department of Public Social Services/DCFS Linkages Child Welfare CalWORKs Program, as well as the Regional Office Lead for the DCFS and Child Support Initiative to eliminate barriers to family reunification and increase work efficiency.
After more than 13 years as a Regional Administrator, in Jan 2011, she was selected as an Interim Deputy Director, where she was responsible for the oversight of five (5) regional offices, servicing more than 11,000 children. During that period, at different times she also had the responsibility of supervising the ASFA Division, the Business Information Systems Division, Property Management, the Community Based Support Division and the Child Protection Hotline. On December 2012, she was selected as the permanent Deputy Director. Following a re-organization, on February 2013, Ms. Yokoyama became the Deputy Director over eight (8) RAs and seven (7) offices (Wateridge, Compton, Vermont Corridor, Belvedere, Santa Fe Springs, Torrance and South County), and in March 2013 she was assigned oversight over the Office of Outcomes and Analytics and the Quality Improvement and Out of Home Care Investigations Section.
Throughout her career, Ms. Yokoyama has demonstrated a passion for utilizing data to track and highlight departmental performance and accomplishments. Ms. Yokoyama has a Master’s Degree in Social Work and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
