Read The Full Story »Jennie Feria began her tenure as the Chief Deputy Director of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) in January 2024. Ms. Feria began her career with DCFS in 1996 as a part time social worker at the Child Protection Hotline. Her love for children and families led her to hold a number of different roles over the years. Ms. Feria’s most recent assignment was as a Deputy Director.
As the Chief Deputy Director, Ms. Feria is responsible for managing all day-to-day operations, which includes all programmatic and administrative processes and procedures. Ms. Feria provides direction and support to ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, county, and departmental guidelines, policies, and procedures. She also develops policy, acts as a liaison with other child welfare jurisdictions, and provides executive direction to senior leadership and management.
Ms. Feria earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Master of Social Work degree, both from UCLA. Ms. Feria is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
