Bre Seltzer is a CSW that constantly goes above and beyond to ensure safety and permanency are achieved for her clients and is also always willing to help her coworkers in any capacity. In a particularly difficult case, Bre worked with a minor who had been under DCFS supervision since the age of 4 to find her the perfect home. Due to some extreme behavior issues, the minor was repeatedly removed from family member and foster family homes and eventually placed in a group home. Bre never gave up though, and when a potential foster-adopt family was identified for the minor, Bre used her available resources to identify and treat the behavior issues before placement with the family. When part of this process included a hospital stay, Bre helped the minor decorate her room and asked her coworkers to contribute messages of encouragement for the young girl that could be used to decorate the room.
Once the child was placed with the family, Bre facilitated therapy with multiple agencies to help smooth the transition to her new home and even used a day off to attend equine therapy with the minor and the family. After six months, the family initiated the process to finalize adoption. This one case highlights Bre’s commitment to her clients and the lengths she is willing to go to ensure the best possible outcome.
