Bre Seltzer is a CSW that constantly goes above and beyond to support safety and permanency for the families she works with and is also always willing to help her coworkers in any capacity. In a particularly difficult case, Bre worked with a child who had been under DCFS supervision since the age of four to find her the perfect home. Due to some extreme behavior issues, the young girl was repeatedly removed from family member and foster family homes and eventually placed in a group home. Bre never gave up though, and when a potential foster-adopt family was identified for the child, Bre used her available resources to identify and treat the behavior issues before placement with the family. When part of this process included a hospital stay, Bre helped her decorate her room and Bre asked coworkers to contribute messages of encouragement for the young girl that could be used to decorate the room.
Once the child was placed with the family, Bre facilitated therapy with multiple agencies to help smooth the transition to her new home and even used a day off to attend equine therapy with the youth and the family. After six months, the family initiated the process to finalize adoption. This one case highlights Bre’s commitment to her clients and the lengths she is willing to go to ensure the best possible outcome.
