Every child should have the opportunity to believe in Santa and the magic of Christmas.
Delia and Nestor, siblings, met their social worker right before Christmas, with their wish lists for Santa ready. On Delia’s list, she asked for her father, incarcerated at the time, to come home.
Delia and Nestor’s social worker, Michelle, informed the children that she worked for a government agency and therefore, had a fax machine directly linked to the North Pole – in order to send their Christmas lists directly to Santa.
She asked the children to give her their lists. Michelle created a North Pole fax coversheet and sent the document to an unknown number and carefully wrote “Confirmed” on the top of the coversheet. She sent the response to the children that day.
Their mother stated that the children were ecstatic to see that Michelle had faxed their Christmas lists, and that her promise to send had been fulfilled. This act strengthened their relationship and changed their perspective on having social workers in their lives.
