Lucy

Lucy was born from a drug abuser mother who also had mental health issues, and a father in his sixties with his own health problems. After the father relinquished his rights, the court fast tracked the case and parental rights were terminated soon after.

Lucy was born hooked to wires and tubes at the hospital. She was a medically fragile infant born with Down Syndrome, heart problems, feeding problems, and respiratory problems. Shortly after she was born, Lucy was placed in an adoptive foster family home.

Lucy’s foster parents were a blessing, committed to caring for her from day one. Her parents’ whereabouts were unknown and the child was in need of an emergency procedure in which she needed surgery under general anesthesia. Her foster mother slept at Lucy’s bedside in the hospital.

In July 2018, Lucy’s foster parent told their social workers that they would be signing adoption placement documents for Lucy which means she will soon be adopted by this family that stood by her every minute after she came to their home.

Lucy will live a happy life filled with love and affection.
